Nurse Practitioners

Nurse Practitioners are trained to diagnose and treat many simple minor illnesses, injuries and infections. As well as reviewing medication and arranging tests and investigations they work with other members of the practice team to look after both acute illnesses and long-term health conditions. They can prescribe medications when this is appropriate.

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. Healthcare assistants carry out some injections for the practice, they are able to do dressings and syringe ears. They may also act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Practice Management

The practice manager is involved in managing all the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Reception & Admin

Our reception team is made up of 5 receptionists - Becky (reception supervisor), Sam, Janine, Julie and Sarah who are always happy to help with any queries you may have. Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They have received care navigation training to direct patients to the right team member depending on your health issue or query to make the most of the patient appointments with the GPs and Nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, correspondence from hospitals and clinics and dealing with patient records. Our Admin team includes Alison, Adele and Jacquie who deal with the medical records side, including letter typing, recalls, registering patients, coding, running searches and reports etc.

Community Midwives

The midwife has weekly antenatal clinics and provides continuity of care throughout pregnancy and following childbirth.

Community Nurses

The community nursing team deliver a wide range of nursing services for housebound patients and their carers.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
